Man has invented tools such as the Mars Exploration Rovers and the For Dummies book series to understand his universe. I make ad hoc abstractions of these tools to explore my universe. Crystalline forms, Satellites, and the Mars Rovers are templates for drawings and sculptures. For Current Awareness, I painted an idealized version of the plywood beneath on the surface of the sculpture. This faux finish shifts our values and tweaks our perceptions. An LCD monitor, a live security camera, and mirrored Plexi-glass are embedded in the form. Exploration, discovery, and beauty are abstracted through multi-faceted kaleidoscopes.

Special thank you to Hillcrest Development Partners, Pacifica HOA, Wokcano Restaurants, Charles Dunn Company.

Partners:

The Long Beach Redevelopment Agency is proud to partner with Phantom Galleries LA, not only to revive empty storefronts along our major corridors, but also to showcase the arts and build a sense of community and culture in our Downtown," said Craig Beck, Executive Director of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency.
