"Fiat Lux 2"
"Fiat Lux" was installed at Jim Kempner Fine Art in Chelsea, NYC, from December, 2004 - January, 2005. It filled a huge 3-D courtyard space about 18' wide, 22' long and two stories high with blinking, moving lights. The title of the piece was "Fiat Lux", which means "Let There Be Light". That piece, like the one planned in Pasadena, was slated for the darkest part of the year, over December 21st, the shortest day of the year, a good time to bring light to the world. The title of the Pasadena piece is "Fiat Lux 2". It will be composed of all sorts of lights used (and misused) in the service of art, as well as constructed lit objects strung across and through the window area. The artist hopes that it will help us all remember to allow a little light into our lives and the lives of others during these darkest days of the year.
